
Senator Saddam Azlan Salim

Saddam Azlan Salim is a Bangladeshi-American public servant and a graduate of George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government. His family immigrated to the United States in the early 2000s and has called Fairfax County home for more than 21 years. Raised in Northern Virginia, he attended Falls Church High School and went on to earn both his bachelor’s degree and Master of Public Administration from George Mason University. In 2022, he completed the Sorensen Institute Emerging Leaders Program at the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.
In 2023, Saddam won the Democratic primary and was subsequently elected to represent Virginia’s 37th Senate District.
Saddam brings over eight years of experience in federal financial management and contracting. He previously served as the Co-Virginia State Director for South Asians for America. During his first two years in office, he has carried and championed legislation focused on affordable housing, technology, and business development. He also served as Chair of the Blockchain Advisory Committee under the Joint Commission on Technology and Science.
